The crucial role of GRB 050315 for the verification of the GRB structure
Abstract
The recent observations by Swift of the source GRB 050315 is shown to give the first and unequivocal evidence for the correctness of our theoretical model which explains the overall structure of the GRB phenomenon in term of a Proper GRB P-GRB emitted at the moment of transparency of an electron-positron plasma originating from the gravitational collapse to a black hole followed by an extended afterglow emission The long GRBs originate from the peak of such extended afterglow while the short GRBs coincide with the P-GRB in the limit of small baryonic loading in the electron-positron plasma with consequent very small contribution to the afterglow see e g ApJ Lett 555 2001 L107-L113-L117 These Swift observations are complementary to the ones of INTEGRAL on GRB 031203 and of HETE-2 on GRB 050709 GRB 050315 and GRB 031203 give the clear evidence for the connection between the prompt emission and the afterglow This is evidenced by the correspondence between our theoretical predictions on the luminosity in fixed energy bands and the observations An additional strong support comes from our precise theoretical prediction of a continuous spectral evolution from hard to soft during and for the first time between the prompt emission and the afterglow which can be submitted to observational verification The crucial role of the HETE-2 data on GRB 050709 is to show the clear enhancement of the P-GRB with respect to the afterglow in the case of short GRBs These observations clearly verify our prediction of a common basic mechanism underlying short and long
